When two icons of Italian luxury decide to collaborate, the result is rarely subtle—and the Riva Aquariva by Gucci is no exception. Unveiled in 2010 to celebrate Gucci’s 90th anniversary, this limited‑edition speedboat fused the heritage of Riva’s legendary runabouts with the unmistakable aesthetic of one of the world’s most influential fashion houses. It was conceived as a modern tribute to the era of La Dolce Vita, when both brands defined glamour on the Riviera and beyond.

The project began with a shared vision. Gucci’s Creative Director Frida Giannini saw the Aquariva as a timeless symbol of Italian style, while Riva’s leadership viewed the collaboration as a bridge between past and present. The goal was not to reinvent the Aquarama legacy, but to reinterpret it—infusing contemporary fashion into a hull that already carried decades of prestige.

The result was a boat that felt both familiar and entirely new. The Aquariva’s sleek fiberglass hull was finished in Gucci’s signature glossy white, accented by the unmistakable green‑and‑red stripe running along the sides. Riva’s traditional mahogany remained central to the design, used for the cockpit, walking decks, and the awning cover hatch, each piece varnished with twenty meticulous coats to achieve a deep, liquid shine. Inside, Gucci’s craftsmanship took center stage: waterproof Guccissima‑print fabric on the seats and sunpad, white cotton upholstery, and a blend of leather, suede, and polished wood that transformed the cabin into a floating boutique.

Even the details carried the Gucci touch. A green crystal windshield, subtle branding on the hull, and refined hardware elevated the boat from luxury vessel to collectible art piece. Yet beneath the style, the Aquariva by Gucci remained every bit a Riva. Twin 380‑horsepower Yanmar engines delivered speeds up to 41 knots, with a confident cruising pace of 36. At just over 10 meters in length and built to carry eight passengers, it offered the same balance of performance and elegance that defined the Aquariva line.

More than a commemorative edition, the Aquariva by Gucci became a symbol of exclusivity—an object that merged haute couture with nautical engineering in a way no other collaboration had achieved. Produced in limited numbers, it quickly became a sought‑after collector’s piece, celebrated for its artistry as much as its performance.

Though the 2011 edition is now a rarity, its influence endures. Riva has continued to evolve the Aquariva line, with later models preserving the boat’s graceful proportions while updating styling and ergonomics. Yet the Gucci collaboration remains a standout moment in luxury design—a meeting of two Italian legends that produced a vessel as stylish as it is unforgettable.
