A finely crafted ship model deserves more than a place on a shelf — it deserves a sanctuary. The display case designed for this vessel is more than a frame; it is a protective environment engineered to preserve every plank, line, and detail for generations.
Built with museum‑grade clarity, our cases features crystal‑clear acrylic that eliminates distortion and allows the model to be viewed from every angle without compromise. The panels are joined with precision, forming a sealed enclosure that shields the ship from dust, airborne particles, and the slow, invisible wear of everyday exposure.
The base is crafted from solid hardwood, chosen not only for its strength but for its ability to complement the model without overpowering it. Routed edges and a hand‑rubbed finish give the base a quiet elegance, while hidden mounting points secure the model firmly in place, preventing vibration or accidental movement.
Inside the case, the environment is intentionally stable. The sealed design helps buffer the model from fluctuations in humidity and temperature — two of the greatest threats to fine woodwork and rigging. UV‑filtering panels protect delicate paints, fabrics, and finishes from fading, ensuring the ship retains its original character and color.
Every element of the case is purposeful. The height of some cases allows the masts and rigging to stand freely without risk of contact. The width provides breathing room around the hull, giving the model a sense of presence while preventing accidental bumps. Even the top panel is designed to prevent bowing, preserving the integrity of the enclosure.
More than a protective shell, the display case becomes part of the presentation — a quiet stage that elevates the ship without distracting from it. It frames the model as the work of art it is, inviting viewers to appreciate the craftsmanship while ensuring that dust, sunlight, and time remain on the outside looking in.
In the end, the case serves the same purpose as the shipwright’s cradle once did: it safeguards the vessel, honors the labor that built it, and ensures that its story endures, untouched and beautifully preserved.
This item is shipped disassembled, so some assembly is required. This display case does not include model ship (shown) or display stand/table. The model ship, pictured, is shown for reference only.
Easy instruction for assembling display case
You will need a screwdriver and hair dryer
- Install 4 solid wood uprights to the base of the display case with 4 (provided) screws. Do not over tighten the screws during the assembly of the case.
- Remove the protective covering from the plexiglass panels. A hair dryer may me used to warm the protective covering for easier removal.
- Slide the plexiglass along the channels/slots of the wood uprights, from top, down. If the plexiglass is not easy to go all the way down to the bottom, the screws may be loosened and re-tighten after the ply/glass is in place.
- Align the frame in place and tighten the (provided) screws. Do not overtighten the screws, but ensure all screws are tightly in place.
- Set your model ship/boat model into the display case and cover the top of the case using the remaining plexiglass panel.
