The 61‑meter Feadship Majestic is a yacht whose history reflects both the precision of Dutch craftsmanship and the tastes of some of the world’s most prominent yacht owners. Built at Feadship’s De Kaag shipyard and launched in 2007 (delivered in 2008), she began life under the name Secret, commissioned for American heiress Nancy Walton Laurie, daughter of Bud Walton and member of the Walmart family. From the outset, the yacht was conceived as a long‑range, family‑oriented vessel—quiet, capable, and finished to the meticulous standards that define Feadship’s reputation.
Designed externally by De Voogt Naval Architects, Majestic carries the classic Feadship profile: a purposeful bow, balanced superstructure, and a semi‑canoe stern that softens her lines. Her steel hull and aluminum superstructure give her both strength and efficiency, while her 1,052‑GT volume allows for generous interior spaces across three decks. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, she cruises comfortably at 12 knots with a transoceanic range of more than 5,700 nautical miles, making her a true global traveler.
Inside, designer Jim Harris created an interior that blends understated luxury with a warm, residential feel. Harris had a long relationship with the owners, and the result is a deeply personalized environment—light and dark wood contrasts, mother‑of‑pearl accents, glass‑bead detailing, and a layout that emphasizes comfort over spectacle. Seven guest cabins accommodate up to 12–14 guests, supported by a professional crew of 16. Amenities include a private cinema, a well‑equipped gym, a spa pool on the sun deck, and multiple indoor‑outdoor dining and lounging areas. A stern garage houses her tenders and water toys, deployed through an articulated transom platform.
In 2010, Secret was sold for approximately $69 million to American businessman Bruce Sherman, who renamed her Majestic. The sale became the subject of a high‑profile commission dispute between brokers—though Sherman himself was not involved in the legal conflict. Under his ownership, Majestic continued to cruise internationally and maintained her reputation as a quiet, capable Feadship with timeless styling.
Meanwhile, Nancy Walton Laurie commissioned a new 82‑meter yacht—also named Secret—from Abeking & Rasmussen in 2013, and today owns the 110‑meter KAOS. Majestic, however, has remained with Sherman and is neither listed for sale nor charter. Her estimated value remains around $70 million, with annual operating costs in the $4–6 million range.
Today, Majestic stands as a prime example of Feadship’s ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern luxury. From her origins as a private family yacht to her life under a new owner, she has retained the hallmarks of a true Feadship: elegant lines, quiet engineering, and a level of build quality that keeps her relevant and admired nearly two decades after her launch.
