When the Seven Viking entered service in 2013, she represented a new generation of offshore support vessels — purpose‑built for the demanding, often unforgiving conditions of the North Sea. Designed for subsea operations, well stimulation, and offshore supply work, she was the product of Norway’s long experience in engineering ships that could thrive in harsh environments where precision, safety, and reliability are paramount.
Built at a Norwegian yard and delivered under the flag of Norway, the Seven Viking was constructed with a clear mission: to serve as a multi‑role workhorse for the offshore oil and gas industry. At 106.5 meters in length and with a beam of nearly 25 meters, she combined compact maneuverability with the stability required for complex subsea tasks. Her dynamic positioning systems, ice‑class certification, and advanced safety notations reflected the high standards of the region’s offshore sector.
Operated by Eidesvik Offshore ASA, a company based in Bømlo and known for its innovative, environmentally conscious fleet, the Seven Viking quickly became a versatile asset. Her 135‑ton offshore crane, expansive 870 m² deck, and specialized equipment allowed her to perform everything from well intervention to subsea installation support. With a deadweight of over 5,100 tons and a top speed of around 17 knots, she could respond rapidly to operational needs across the Norwegian continental shelf.
Throughout her career, the Seven Viking has been a familiar presence in ports such as Kristiansund, Aagotnes, and Rypefjord, reflecting her central role in supporting Norway’s offshore infrastructure. AIS records from 2026 show her moving steadily between field operations and coastal bases, a rhythm typical of vessels engaged in subsea maintenance and supply cycles.
Her design emphasizes efficiency and endurance. Built with modern diesel‑electric propulsion and engineered for low emissions, she embodies the shift toward cleaner offshore operations. Inside, she carries the specialized equipment and crew accommodations needed for long deployments, enabling engineers, technicians, and mariners to work safely in some of the world’s most challenging waters.
More than a decade after her launch, the Seven Viking remains in active service — a testament to the durability of her design and the ongoing demand for high‑capability offshore support vessels. In an industry defined by constant change, she stands as a reliable, adaptable platform, supporting the subsea infrastructure that powers much of Norway’s energy economy.
